Early Spring Home Refresh - Ways to Welcome the Spring Season
Spring might not be officially here yet, but I’m so ready for warmer weather along with outdoor walks and park dates again! With the seasons shifting and our first spring season in the new home, I wanted to do a little mini spring refresh to lighten things up and add a few simple touches that can make a big impact and all the difference. Trust me, you don’t have to go overboard - just a few fresh florals with a pop of color, a little decluttering, and some small decor swaps can truly breathe new life into your home. Spring represents a season of rebirth, transformation, and fresh starts so it’s a perfect time to transition your home into a lighter and brighter space this time of year.
Let’s take a little spring home tour, and you can see how I’m making my home feel refreshed and inviting for the spring season ahead. First and foremost, the best way to start a springtime refresh is by taking stock of what you already have, and what no longer serves you. This helps you know what to give away, and what you can store out of sight until next winter. I always say that when my home is organized so is my mind, especially as a mom!
Let’s start with the living room - refresh your accent pillows. Swapping out throw pillows and cushions is one of the easiest ways to breathe new life into any room. By changing out your array of accent pillows and home decor even twice a year, you can instantly make your space feel lighter with incorporating fresh colors and textures that give it a whole new mood, and a brighter feel.

Next, incorporate lighter textiles and tones into your bedroom such as pops of blues, greens and light pinks. As those daylight hours begin to grow longer and warmer, it’s a good idea to change out your heavier wool blankets and throws for lighter linens and neutral tones. You might opt for bedding in softer shades along with earthy accents to enhance a calming effect within your bedroom. Also, remember a little greenery goes a long way. An easy way to add color and depth while brightening any dull spaces.
The dining/kitchen area is where I like to start my seasonal decorating, and this time, I played with a floral scheme that included pops of pink, yellow and green. It’s simple but bold, and I love how these colors complement each other. You also can’t go wrong with faux florals as they truly stand the test of time and are a great way to make any table or counter pop. If you can’t tell, I’ve been loving the rattan theme all throughout my home as well. It’s a great way to add dimension to any space through its natural and textured appeal. Rattan can also blend seamlessly with various design styles.
Don’t forget your entry way as it sets the tone for your entire home. It’s the first space guests see and the last spot you pass through daily. Whether your style is bold or modern, there are countless ways to make it stand out. Some tips to enhance your front entryway space as the spring season approaches is to layer different textures and pops of color to create a dynamic look. Use practical items like storage baskets, lamps or pillar candle holders (my favorite!) to add functionality to your entryway as well. I swear by all flameless flickering candles, especially as a mom! I don’t have to worry about any fire hazards, and they look real, so they are a win-win in my book. The ones I suggest come in an array of colors as well which is another easy way to add color into your entryway space.
Another trick I’ve learned over the years is to add a versatile, “occasional” piece to any room. When you’re looking to breathe new life into a room, incorporating a multi-purpose piece of furniture like a side table, end table, chair, or stools can go a long way. These pieces suddenly give purpose to a rarely used corner and can also serve as a nice focal point for the room.
Lastly, it wouldn’t be a home refresh without some sort of organization and decluttering. If there’s anything you do to your home this upcoming spring season, I highly suggest organizing a pantry, closet, or small space. It can make all the difference and significantly improve your mood by creating a more organized and cleaner environment. Trust me, I feel so much better when I know where things are and my house is somewhat tidy. I also like to get my kids involved so they know everything has a place and it teaches them discipline. If you take anything away from this post, remember that you don’t need to go overboard to refresh your home for spring. Sometimes, a few small swaps—like a new pillow, a fresh floral arrangement, or a decluttered shelf are all you need. Here’s to dreaming of warmer weather and the spring season ahead! XO
